On this tour through the neighbourhood of San Sebastián, we'll walk through the streets of Santa Cruz de La Palma to discover the island's capital's most unknown side.

Description

After meeting at the indicated time in Plaza Van Dale, we'll explore the best-kept secrets of Santa Cruz de La Palma. The old town has been declared a Historic-Artistic Site.

We'll first visit the Chile Nitrate Sign, an Art Deco landmark from 1929, notable for its excellent preservation. It offers insight into the advertising world of that era.

Next, we will go to the Ascensor de La Luz to ascend to the San Telmo neighbourhood, where we will see the San Telmo hermitage, Plaza del Tanquito, and Plaza del Dornajo. This area connects us with the San Sebastián neighbourhood and the old water tanks, which were active until the 20th century.

We will continue to the Hermitage of San Sebastian, a notable example of Renaissance architecture in the Canary Islands, featuring a significant ceiling painting. The tour includes the church of Santo Domingo, a major historic building from the 17th century.

Additionally, we will visit the Teatro Circo de Marte and the Real Sociedad Cosmológica, both culturally significant institutions.

We will conclude our 1.5-hour tour walking along calle Virgen de la Luz to the Mercado Municipal de Abastos.
