Cerro Islá Food Tour
We will pick you up at 9 am at your hotel in Bahías de Huatulco for a journey to Cerro Islá to explore the history and gastronomy of the Mexican state of Oaxaca.
After a 45-minute drive, we will arrive in Santa María Huatulco, where we will visit the local church, which houses the remains of the venerated cross of Huatulco, and the Municipal Palace to see its colorful murals.
Next, we will proceed to Benito Juárez, a community at the foot of Cerro Islá. Here, we will enjoy some corn tostaditas before beginning a 3-hour hike through the nature surrounding the area.
During the hike, we will observe regional fruits and tropical trees, and visit farms cultivating coffee beans and various cacao varieties. We will stop along the trail to enjoy delicious coffee and local sweet breads.
The hike will continue along a path featuring regional trees, plants, and fruits such as guanabana, yaca, carambola, neem, and rambutan. At the end of the trail, we will have lunch al fresco with a menu of roasted tasajo, cecina enchilada, chorizo, roasted nopales, beans, pasta, guacamole, handmade tortillas, chili sauces, coffee, and fruit-flavored waters.
After lunch, we will return to the trailhead and then travel back to Bahías de Huatulco, with a scheduled arrival at your hotel by 4 pm.
