Experience a Mexican Winter Solstice Ceremony

December 20

At 4 pm we'll pick you up at your hotel in Huatulco for a trip to La Ventanilla beach for the wonderful winter solstice ceremony.

Once we arrive, we will learn about the celebration of the solstice, which marks the change of season and the length of nights in the northern hemisphere, but in this town on the Oaxacan coast, it signifies the iconic beginning of a new cycle.

The shaman will guide us through a unique ritual, emphasizing the importance of this ceremony and its cultural impact. Additionally, we will release a turtle into the sea to the rhythm of drums, bidding farewell to the sun and welcoming the longest night of the year. This will be an unrepeatable moment!

After 6 hours, we will return to your hotel in Huatulco.

December 21

At 3:30 am, we will leave from your hotel in Huatulco and head to La Ventanilla beach.

You will be welcomed with drum music and conch shell sounds to begin the winter solstice ceremony. We will settle in to watch the sunrise and see how the sun crosses the famous Ventanilla rock.

After sunrise, we will join the ceremony with the shaman and celebrate the beginning of the cycle with the children's cultural group of the town. Afterwards, we will enjoy breakfast at a seaside restaurant before returning to the hotel in Huatulco. See you soon!
