December 20
At 4 pm, pickup will be at your hotel in Huatulco for a trip to La Ventanilla Beach. Upon arrival, there will be an explanation about the solstice celebration, marking the change of season and longer nights in the northern hemisphere. In this town, it signifies the iconic beginning of a new cycle.
The shaman will guide a unique ritual, emphasizing the importance and cultural impact of this ceremony. Participants will release a turtle into the sea accompanied by drums, bidding farewell to the sun and welcoming the longest night of the year. This experience lasts approximately 6 hours before returning to the hotel in Huatulco.
December 21
At 3:30 am, departure will be from your hotel in Huatulco to La Ventanilla Beach. The ceremony begins with drum music and conch shell sounds. Participants will settle on the beach to witness the sunrise and observe the sun crossing the famous Ventanilla rock.
After sunrise, attendees will join the shaman and the children’s cultural group from the town in celebrating the new cycle. Breakfast will be served at a seaside restaurant before returning to the hotel in Huatulco.
