Day Trip to Alta Gracia

We'll pick you up from your hotel in Cordoba, and we'll head towards Alta Gracia, some 50 minutes away. On the way, we'll stop at the Miryam Stefford Monument and find out all about this famous actress.

Once we reach Alta Gracia, we'll visit the Tajamar, an artificial lake built by the Jesuits, as well as the Jesuit Museum. Here, we'll discover the influence that this religious community had on the town and we'll discover how the monks that resided here used to live. We'll also visit the Archeological Museum.

We'll continue walking around the centre of Alta Gracia, where we'll visit the beautiful church of Nuestra Señora de la Merced. Next we'll head to Villa Nydia, the Che Guevara House Museum. We'll explore the rooms where this famous figure grew up and relive some moments of his life through documents and letters. We'll even see a replica of the motorcycle he rode during his trip to America!

From here, we'll head to the house of Manuel de Falla. This Spanish composer chose Alta Gracia as his home for the final years of his life. His house is now a museum, and here we'll see five rooms full of personal objects, furniture, books and photographs of his life. We'll even be able to see sheet music written by the artist.

The last stop will be at the Virgin of Lourdes Grotto, a popular place for prayer among the faithful. At the end of the trip we'll head back to Cordoba, dropping you off at your hotels around four hours after pickup.

How does it work?

You will begin your day with a hotel pickup in Cordoba. After a brief introductory session, we will depart for Alta Gracia, located approximately 50 minutes from the city. Your journey will include an educational stop at the Miryam Stefford Monument, where you will learn about the noted actress.

Upon arrival, the first location will be the Tajamar, followed by the Jesuit Museum. Here, we will explore the significant role of the Jesuits in Alta Gracia's history and lifestyle. The next visit will be at the Archeological Museum, where more insights will unfold about the region's past.

As we stroll through the town center, you will visit the church of Nuestra Señora de la Merced, an architectural gem, before proceeding to Villa Nydia, home to the Che Guevara House Museum. Through the rooms, you will witness personal artifacts as well as a replica of his motorcycle, enhancing your understanding of his early life.

Next, we will visit the house of Manuel de Falla, which features many of his personal belongings and offers a glimpse into the composer’s life. The tour culminates at the Virgin of Lourdes Grotto, a revered site for many. We will conclude our day by returning you back to Cordoba approximately four hours after the tour begins.
