Tour Options
Upon booking, you can select from the following options. Each selection includes a dedicated English-speaking guide, ensuring a personalized experience:
3-Hour Tour
Your journey will start with a pick-up from your hotel, leading us to Parque de los Novios, a serene oasis in the city. This urban park offers an ideal setting to delve into Santa Marta's past as we stroll among its vibrant gardens and statues.
Next, we will visit the Santa Marta Cathedral, where we can admire its stunning neogothic facade dating back to the late 18th century. Following this, our destination will be the Tairona Gold Museum. Are you ready to immerse yourself in the heights of pre-Columbian culture?
Situated on the site of the first Spanish settlement, the museum features various rooms that showcase the cultural legacies of indigenous tribes from the region. As we explore, we will encounter metallurgical artifacts, gold jewelry, and everyday items that illustrate their heritage.
To conclude, we’ll walk along the boardwalk and Santa Marta Bay, taking in the scenic views of the Caribbean Sea and the lively port. If luck is on our side, we may even spot some dolphins frolicking near the shore. It’s a delightful way to wrap up the experience!
5-Hour Tour
If you wish to delve deeper into this coastal city, you can opt for the 5-hour tour. This will follow the same path as the shorter option; however, after our visit to the boardwalk and Santa Marta Bay, we will continue on to the Quinta de San Pedro Alejandrino. Ready for more exploration?
Upon arrival, we’ll tour one of Santa Marta's oldest haciendas, established in the 17th century. This site boasts a colonial mansion, the Museum of Contemporary Art, a botanical garden, and the notable Altar de la Patria. Experience its impressive architecture amid lush greenery!
Next, we will visit the vibrant public market, where the heart of Santa Marta thrives. Here, you'll have the chance to sample local ingredients and find some culinary treasures. Finally, we'll relax at El Rodadero Beach, north of the Garia district, enjoying stunning views of the Caribbean and Pelican Island.
8-Hour Tour
For those seeking an extended adventure, an 8-hour tour option is available. With this choice, you’ll follow the outlined routes and have the opportunity to visit either Taganga or Minca. The decision is yours!
If you opt for Taganga, a brief 20-minute drive will get us there, allowing you some free time on the beach to enjoy a meal and the sea breeze with picturesque views of Taganga Bay.
Alternatively, choosing the village of Minca means a 45-minute drive away from the coast. Here, you can soak in the refreshing air of the Sierra Nevada mountains. You’ll have the option to visit the Marinka Waterfalls for a swim in the jungle's natural pools or tour a coffee farm to learn about Colombian coffee—once again, the choice is yours!
