Santa Marta Sightseeing Tour
After collecting you from your accommodation, we will commence our Santa Marta sightseeing exploration at the remarkable Quinta de San Pedro Alejandrino. Designated a Shrine of the Homeland by the Colombian authorities, this hacienda served as the final residence of Simón Bolívar. During our visit, we will delve into the intriguing history of this site while admiring its impressive architecture.
Continuing our journey, we will navigate through the city's main thoroughfares, taking in the essence of Santa Marta's notable structures and historic monuments. We will also meander through lush parks and colonial homes within the old town, leading us to the grand Cathedral Basilica of Santa Marta. This venerable location once held the remains of Simón Bolívar and currently serves as the resting place for Rodrigo Bastidas, the city's founder.
Our adventure will further lead us to the captivating Santa Marta Bay, where we will discuss the indigenous civilizations that resided in the area prior to the Spanish conquest in the 16th century. A visit to the Pibe Valderrama Statue awaits, celebrating one of Colombia's most celebrated football figures!
Finally, we will make our way to Taganga, a charming fishermen's district along the coastline. Here, you can enjoy a leisurely walk along the beach, taking in the stunning views from one of the renowned ocean overlooks.
