Vic, Rupit & Besalú Excursion
After picking you up at your hotel in Santa Susana between 8 and 9 am, we'll start a route through some of the villages of Catalonia.
In a comfortable minibus, we'll first head towards Besalú, a medieval town rich in history. Upon arrival, we'll cross the famous Old Bridge of Besalú, built in the 11th century over a Roman bridge. We'll explore the historic center of Besalú, admiring its medieval streets and façades, and visit the churches of Sant Pere, Santa Maria and Sant Vicenç, as well as the Jewish quarter to see its medieval baths.
Next, we'll proceed to the La Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park. On a short hiking route, we'll observe forests of beech, oak and holm oak along with extinct volcanoes and lava flows.
Our next stop will be Rupit, known as one of the most beautiful medieval villages in Catalonia. You'll have an hour of free time to have lunch at a local restaurant.
We will regroup and head to Vic, passing by Cingles de Tavertet, a set of cliffs above the Sau valley and Osona plain. In Vic, we'll stroll through the Plaza Mayor and see Gothic structures like Casa Beuló and modern constructions like Casa Tolosa.
Before returning to Santa Susana, we'll visit the ruins of the Palau dels Montcada. The excursion will conclude at your hotel between 6 and 7 pm.
