Pilgrimage Day: Santo Toribio de Liebana Way

Experience a pilgrimage day walking part of the Camino de Santiago from Potes to the Monastery of Santo Toribio. The journey starts from Santander and includes a scenic drive through Cantabrian landscapes, passing La Hermida Gorge.

Upon arrival in Potes, embark on a hike to the 6th-century Santo Toribio de Liébana Monastery, home to a relic of the True Cross. After exploring Potes, hike the 2-mile route to the monastery, where a pilgrim's mass is held at midday.

After the mass, visit the chapel and viewpoint of St Michael for breathtaking views of the Picos de Europa mountains. Return to Potes for a traditional Lebaniego stew before enjoying free time to explore the town at your own pace.

Continue the journey to San Sebastian de Garabandal, a village known for apparitions of the Virgin Mary in the 1960s. Visit the village and Los Pinos, where the visions occurred, before returning to Santander by 7:30 pm.
