Arapiuns River 5-Day Tour

Day 1

At 9 am, pick-up is from the Tourist Information Centre in Alter do Chão to board a boat for exploring the Arapiuns River. The trip includes passing Piranhas Lake and reaching Urucurea's Indigenous community, where you'll learn about their lifestyle and can choose between a hiking or canoe tour. Lunch will be at a local's house. The day concludes with relaxation in a hammock and a visit to Ponta do Toronó and the Grande Lake for sunset viewing.

Day 2

Morning activities include snorkelling, photography, and relaxation. Then, you will sail to the Coroca community to learn about their ecotourism project, turtle breeding, and beekeeping, followed by lunch with locals. The journey continues to Aruã, with stops at São Pedro and São José, and camping on Mount Sião under the stars.

Day 3

A boat trip to the Aruã Waterfall is scheduled, allowing exploration of its flora and fauna. At the waterfall, you can explore trails and sample local food. An option is available to jump into the waterfall from a height. The night will be spent camping next to the waterfall.

Day 4

Departing from Aruã to Ponta do Papagaio Beach for lunch, proceed to the São Francisco community for a swim. Afterward, travel to Ponta Grande to enjoy sunsets and a bonfire for fish cooking and discussions. You can choose to camp on the beach or sleep on the boat.

Day 5

The final day has a morning for exploration. At noon, travel to Punta de Icuxi for local gastronomy and then cross the Tapajós River to view a sunset at Ponta do Cururu. Return to Alter do Chão for a drop-off around 7 pm.

Accommodation

The tour includes 4 nights’ accommodation on the boat with meals provided. Boat capacity varies from 20 to 70 people, offering double or single beds based on availability. Kayaking and paddle surfing equipment is available onboard, which features a barbecue and music.
