Arapiuns River Communities Tour
At 9 am, we'll meet at the Tourist Information Centre in Alter do Chão and set off northbound by boat to the Arapiuns River. During the journey, we will pass by Ponta do Cururu, Pirañas Lake, and Tapajós River. Arriving at Urucurea, you will observe local Indigenous communities and their picturesque church. You may also see monkeys and toucans. Visitors can explore the area or watch a crafts demonstration. Options include hiking along the creek, a wooden canoe ride, or a visit to the Amazoian beaches.
A meal of fresh fish, wild chicken, and other dishes will be served. Afterwards, relax in a hammock before we explore Ponta do Torono and Lago Grande. We will return to Alter do Chão at around 7 pm.
2-day tour
The 2-day tour includes visiting Torono and Ponta Grande Beach for a sunset, followed by a bonfire on the beach with grilled fish. On the second day, we will visit the riverside community of Coroca to learn about tropical turtles, bees, handicrafts and ecotourism. A typical lunch of fish and chicken will be provided, concluding with a sunset at Ponta do Cururu.
