Arapiuns River Communities Tour

At 9 am, we meet at the Tourist Information Centre in Alter do Chão and set off northbound on a boat to the Arapiuns River. We will pass by Ponta do Cururu, Pirañas Lake, and Tapajós River before arriving at the village of Urucurea. Here, we will learn about the local Indigenous communities and visit a picturesque church on a hill. Guests may encounter wildlife like monkeys and toucans and view artwork from community women inside a typical house.

Participants can stroll on their own or enjoy a crafts demonstration. Options include a hiking route along the creek, a wooden canoe ride, or visiting Amazonian beaches. Lunch features fresh fish, wild chicken, and other dishes, followed by relaxation in a hammock. The tour continues to Ponta do Torono and Lago Grande to observe birds and natural landscapes before returning to Alter do Chão around 7 pm.

2-day tour

The 2-day tour includes a visit to Torono and Ponta Grande Beach for sunset, followed by a bonfire on the beach to grill fish. Participants will sleep surrounded by nature. The next morning, we will visit the riverside community of Coroca to learn about tropical turtles, bees, handicrafts, and ecotourism. Lunch will consist of fish and chicken, followed by a visit to Ucuxi Beach and a final sunset at Ponta do Cururu.

Accommodation

The 2-day tour includes 1 night's accommodation on the boat in double cabins with a private bathroom. Alternatively, guests may choose to spend the night in a cabin in the Vista Alegre community, which is not included in the tour price.
