Arapiuns River Communities Tour

Get ready for an exciting journey! We will gather at 9 am at the Tourist Information Centre located in Alter do Chão. From this meeting point, we will embark on a boat heading north towards the Arapiuns River.

As we cruise along, we will glide past Ponta do Cururu, take in the sights of Pirañas Lake, and navigate the waters of the Tapajós River. Our first stop will be the charming village of Urucurea, which is beautifully situated within a cove split by three arms of water. Upon arrival, we'll gain insight into the lifestyles of the local Indigenous populations and appreciate the lovely church positioned atop a hill. Keep an eye out, as playful monkeys and toucans might join us on our adventure! We'll also step inside a typical dwelling to admire the artistic creations of the women from this village.

During our visit, you will have the choice to explore independently or witness a demonstration of traditional crafts. Following this, options abound: you can hike along the creek to marvel at the lush greenery, embark on a wooden canoe ride through the village, or visit the stunning beaches of the Amazon.

Feeling hungry? We’ll enjoy a meal featuring fresh fish, wild chicken, and other local dishes. Afterward, take some time to unwind in a hammock, surrounded by the tranquil sounds of nature. We will then venture to Ponta do Torono and Lago Grande, where we can observe the diverse birdlife, sand dunes, and rich vegetation.

After a day filled with unforgettable moments, we will return to Alter do Chão, arriving back at approximately 7 pm.

2-day tour

Ponta Grande Beach to witness a breathtaking sunset. In the evening, we will gather around a bonfire on the beach to grill delicious fish and enjoy a night immersed in nature's embrace.

Wake up to a new day! We will journey to the riverside community of Coroca to discover insights about tropical turtles, bees, crafts, and ecotourism. A traditional lunch featuring fish and chicken will follow. Our next destination will be Ucuxi Beach, famous for its lively New Year’s festivities, where we will savor one last enchanting sunset at Ponta do Cururu.
