Tapajós River 5-Day Tour

Day 1

Pick up at 9 am from the tourist information centre in Alter do Chão. Set sail along the southern Tapajós River, passing Muretá Beach, Jurucuri Lake, Pindobal Beach, Cajutuba Beach, Aramanaí, Santo Domingo, and Maguari. Stop in the community of Jamaraquá for fruit and visit the village. Option for a 4-mile (7-kilometre) hike to see the Samaúma tree. Lunch will include fish and chicken. Afternoon free for exploration. Canoe trip for sunset viewing. Overnight on the beach or the boat.

Day 2

Wake up in the Amazon Rainforest and sail along the riverbank to spots like Tauar, Perim, Acarantiga, or Pedreira. Stops for swimming and to view Brazil's wild flora. Arrive at Refúgio dos Sonhos; gather around a bonfire for local stories.

Day 3

Morning free to explore the lodge, orchards, beaches, and trails, and see local wildlife. Lunch on the premises before heading to Fordlandia. Dinner and overnight on the boats.

Day 4

Tour of Fordlandia, exploring the town built for rubber sourcing. See the water supply tank, shed, machinery, and Ford Motor Company trucks. Day spent learning about the town's history and its decline.

Day 5

Return to Alter do Chão by boat, with stops for swimming. Lunch included, followed by one last sunset on the Tapajós River. Arrival back at 7 pm.

Accommodation

The tour includes 4 nights' accommodation on the boat with breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Capacity is either 20 or 70 people, based on booking. Cabins offer double or single beds, subject to availability. Use kayaking and paddle surfing equipment, barbecue, and music system on the boat, which has four different spaces.
