Tapajós River 5-Day Tour

Day 1

Pickup is at 9 am from the tourist information centre in Alter do Chão. We will journey along the southern Tapajós River, passing Muretá Beach, Jurucuri Lake, Pindobal Beach, Cajutuba Beach, Aramanaí, Santo Domingo, and Maguari. In the community of Jamaraquá, enjoy a selection of fruit and visit the village. Optionally, join a 4-mile (7-kilometre) hike to see the Samaúma tree. Lunch will be fish and chicken. The afternoon is free for exploration, followed by a canoe trip to view a sunset. You can rest by the beach or on the boat.

Day 2

Wake up in the Amazon Rainforest and sail along the Tapajós riverbank visiting Tauar, Perim, Acarantiga, and Pedreira. We'll make stops for swimming and to observe Brazil's wild flora. Arrive at Refúgio dos Sonhos in the rainforest for a bonfire and local stories.

Day 3

The morning is free to explore the lodge, its orchards, beaches, and trails. Enjoy a local-style lunch before we head to Fordlandia. Dinner and overnight stay will be on the boats.

Day 4

Learn about Henry Ford's rubber company in the abandoned town of Fordlandia. We'll see the water supply tank, machinery, and some of the Ford Motor Company's trucks while exploring the remnants of the town.

Day 5

Return to Alter do Chão by boat, stopping for refreshing dips along the way. After lunch, enjoy one last sunset from the Tapajós River. We expect to arrive back in Alter do Chão by 7 pm.

Accommodation

This tour includes 4 nights' accommodation on the boat with breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The boats can accommodate either 20 or 70 people, depending on your booking. Cabins feature double or single beds, subject to availability. You can use kayaking and paddle surfing equipment, along with barbecue facilities and a music system. The boat is divided into four different spaces. Bon voyage!
