Tapajós River 5-Day Tour

Day 1

Pickup is at 9 am from the tourist information centre in Alter do Chão. We will journey along the southern Tapajós River, passing Muretá Beach, Jurucuri Lake, Pindobal Beach, Cajutuba Beach, Aramanaí, Santo Domingo, and Maguari. A stop will be made in the community of Jamaraquá for snacks and village exploration, with an optional 4-mile hike to see the Samaúma tree. Lunch will consist of fish and chicken, followed by an afternoon of free exploration. The day concludes with a canoe trip for sunset viewing, with overnight accommodations by the beach or on the boat.

Day 2

Wake up in the Amazon Rainforest and set sail along the Tapajós riverbank, visiting locations such as Tauar, Perim, Acarantiga, or Pedreira, with swimming opportunities available. Arrival at Refúgio dos Sonhos includes sitting around a bonfire for local stories.

Day 3

The morning is free to explore the lodge, orchards, beaches, and trails. A local-style lunch will be served before we travel by boat to Fordlandia, where dinner will be provided, and the night spent on boats.

Day 4

Explore the abandoned town of Fordlandia, learning about Henry Ford's rubber company. View the water supply tank, machinery, and Ford Motor Company's trucks while discovering the town's history.

Day 5

Return to Alter do Chão with stops for swimming. After lunch, another sunset will be admired from the Tapajós River. Arrival back in Alter do Chão is scheduled for 7 pm.

Accommodation

This tour includes 4 nights' accommodation on the boat with breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The boats accommodate either 20 or 70 people, with cabins featuring double or single beds based on availability. Kayaking and paddle surfing equipment is available, as well as barbecue facilities and a music system.
