Tapajós River 5-Day Tour

Day 1

Pick up at 9 am from the tourist information centre in Alter do Chão. We will journey along the southern Tapajós River, passing Muretá Beach, Jurucuri Lake, Pindobal Beach, Cajutuba Beach, Aramanaí, Santo Domingo, and Maguari. A stop will be made in the community of Jamaraquá for fruit and a village visit. Option for a 4-mile hike (7 km) to see the Samaúma tree. Lunch will consist of fish and chicken. The afternoon is free for exploration. We will conclude the day with a canoe trip to view the sunset. Overnight on the beach or on the boat.

Day 2

Morning wake up in the Amazon Rainforest. We will sail along the riverbank, visiting spots like Tauar, Perim, Acarantiga, and Pedreira, with swimming stops and opportunities to view Brazil's wild flora. We will arrive at Refúgio dos Sonhos, enjoying a bonfire with local stories.

Day 3

The morning will be free to explore the lodge, orchards, beaches, trails, and observe roaming animals. Lunch will be provided on-site before we head by boat to Fordlandia. Dinner will be served, and we will sleep on the boats.

Day 4

We will tour the abandoned town of Fordlandia, exploring the water supply tank, shed, machinery, and some of the Ford Motor Company's trucks. This town, built for rubber sourcing, faced demise due to poor crop practices.

Day 5

We will return to Alter do Chão by boat, with stops for swimming. After lunch, enjoy a final sunset from the Tapajós River. Scheduled arrival back at Alter do Chão is at 7 pm.

Accommodation

The tour includes 4 nights' accommodation on the boat with breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Boats accommodate either 20 or 70 people based on booking, with double or single beds available. Kayaking and paddle surfing equipment, barbecue, and a music system are included, with the boat divided into four spaces.
