Discover the traditions and way of life of the Tapajós River communities on our 1 or 2-day tour. Explore this part of the Amazon and meet the locals.

Tapajós River Communities Tour

At 9 am, we'll meet at the Tourist Information Centre in Alter do Chão and board our boat to sail on the Tapajós River to the Anuma river community. Upon arrival, we'll take a tractor to the Active Forestry Experimental Centre to learn about animal breeding and organic farming methods.

Lunch will be served at 1 pm, featuring chicken or fresh fish. Afterward, relax in a hammock with views of the Brazilian Amazon. We will then hike to the hydroelectric dam, where you can take a dip before returning to Alter do Chão by 7 pm.

2-day Tour

On the 2-day tour, we will proceed to the Vista Alegre community after Anuma. You can choose to arrive via a 6-mile (10-kilometre) trail or a boat trip through the mangroves. Locals will share their customs, and you'll enjoy dinner and learn about their fire ritual.

After breakfast, we will hike to explore the surroundings, have a typical lunch, and engage with the riverside community. Before returning to Alter do Chão, we will watch the sunset at Muretá Beach.

The boat features four different spaces, kayaking and paddle surfing equipment, a barbecue, and music on board.
