Discover the famous Beach of the Cathedrals, and its impressive rock shapes, with this trip from Santiago de Compostela. You'll also visit Lugo and Ribadeo!

Day Trip Details

We will meet at the Plaza de Galicia square and depart Santiago de Compostela to head northeast. After an enjoyable journey, we will arrive in Lugo, known for its well-preserved walls that are more than 7,000 feet long.

Once there, a guided tour of the historic center of Lugo will last an hour and a half. Notable monuments include the cathedral of Santa María, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with a construction period exceeding a century, and the Roman wall surrounding the old town, recognized as one of the best-preserved in the Iberian Peninsula.

Following the Lugo tour, we will proceed to the Beach of Aguas Santas, commonly known as the Cathedrals beach, named for its rock formations reminiscent of Gothic flying buttresses. We will walk around this area during low tide, allowing us to pass under arches that are over 100 feet high, while enjoying the sound of waves crashing against these formations. This beach is recognized as a Natural Monument and is considered one of the best beaches in Europe.

Our next stop will be the town of Ribadeo, close to the Cathedrals beach. Here, we will view the façade of the neoclassical Casa Consistorial and other significant monuments. A period of free time will be provided for enjoying traditional Galician cuisine.

After this visit, we will return to the bus for the journey back to Santiago de Compostela, concluding the excursion.
