Day Trip Overview

Our adventure begins in front of the Capilla del Pilar, from where we will depart heading northeast out of Santiago de Compostela. After a scenic drive, we will reach the city of Lugo, renowned for its historical walls that stretch over 7,000 feet.

Upon arrival, we will embark on a guided exploration of Lugo’s historic center that will last about an hour and a half. One of the highlights includes visiting the cathedral of Santa María, a UNESCO World Heritage Site notable for its lengthy construction period exceeding a century.

Additionally, the Roman wall encircling the old town, recognized as one of the most intact Roman walls in the Iberian Peninsula, will be a key stop on our tour.

Following our time in Lugo, we will continue to the magnificent Aguas Santas beach, better known as the Beach of the Cathedrals. Named for its stunning rock formations resembling the flying buttresses of Gothic cathedrals, this locale is simply breathtaking.

We will walk through this mesmerizing area, making the most of the low tide to explore beneath the arches that reach over 100 feet in height. As the waves crash against these towering stones, the beauty of this site, which holds the designation of a Natural Monument, will surely leave an impression. It is regarded as one of Europe’s finest beaches.

Next, our journey leads us to the picturesque town of Ribadeo, conveniently located near the Beach of the Cathedrals. Here, you can enjoy the striking neoclassical façade of the Casa Consistorial, alongside other notable monuments and the port area. There will also be time to indulge in the local Galician cuisine.

After exploring Ribadeo, we will board our bus and return to the starting point in Santiago de Compostela, marking the end of this enriching excursion.
