Discover the famous Beach of the Cathedrals, and its impressive rock shapes, with this fantastic trip from Santiago de Compostela. You'll also visit Lugo and Ribadeo!

Day Trip Details

We'll meet at the Plaza de Galicia square and leave Santiago de Compostela heading northeast. After the road journey, we'll arrive at Lugo, known for its preserved walls, which are over 7,000 feet long.

In Lugo, we'll take a guided tour of the historic center for an hour and a half. Key sites include the cathedral of Santa María, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the Roman wall surrounding the old town, one of the best-preserved in the Iberian Peninsula.

Following the Lugo tour, we'll proceed to Aguas Santas, known as the Cathedrals beach. Its name derives from the rocky formations resembling the flying buttresses of Gothic shrines.

We'll enjoy a walk during low tide, allowing us to explore under the arches, which are over 100 feet high. The sound of waves against the rocks enhances the experience. This site is recognized as a Natural Monument and is regarded as one of the best beaches in Europe.

Next, we'll visit the town of Ribadeo, near Cathedrals beach, where we can admire the neoclassical Casa Consistorial and other significant monuments, along with the port. Participants will have free time to taste Galician cuisine.

After this visit, we'll return to the bus and head back to the starting point in Santiago de Compostela, concluding the excursion.
