Do you want to learn how to make a queimada and how to recite a conxuro? This ritual in Santiago de Compostela introduces you to the world of the Galician meigas.

Description

The queimada has origins attributed to Celtic times and the Middle Ages. It is traditionally used for dispelling curses and warding off evil spirits.

You will immerse yourself in Galician culture. The meeting point is at the Plaza de San Martiño. From there, we will proceed to the bar where the ceremony begins.

We will gather around a table with a large mud pot. A meigagallega will guide us on how to make the queimada.

The elements water, earth, and fire will be involved in the preparation of this drink. The meiga will recite the conxuro da queimada, invoking good fortune prior to tasting the drink.

After the ritual, we will taste the freshly prepared queimada.
