Experience the stunning landscapes on our day excursion to the renowned Rías Baixas in Galicia. This journey will take you to picturesque locations such as Padrón, Arosa Island, Cambados, La Toja, and Combarro. Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to enjoy a boat ride and indulge in delicious mussels.
Description
Following your pickup at the designated location Rua dos Bautizados, 12 in Santiago de Compostela, our adventure will commence towards Padrón. Your gateway to explore the Rías Baixas is here!
Did you know that the remains of St. James arrived in Padrón via boat? We'll stop at the church dedicated to this saint, which houses the "Pedrón" - a significant stone to which the vessel was tied. While exploring, we’ll take a leisurely stroll along the Alameda, admiring the statues of Rosalía de Castro and Camilo José Cela. After the 30-minute visit to Padrón, our journey southward continues.
Our next destination will be the Pontevedra estuary, the smallest of the Rías Baixas, leading us to Combarro. Here, you will encounter the charming traditional Galician hórreos. Enjoy some free time for lunch and partake in a delightful boat ride with a mussel tasting experience.
Next, we will proceed to the island of La Toja, where you will have the chance to explore its iconic Chapel of the Shells and other attractions.
After relishing the island’s breathtaking views, we'll move on to Cambados. You will have free time to wander through this town, known as the capital of Albariño wine, at your own pace.
Concluding our tour of Cambados, we'll head to the island of Arousa, where you can enjoy some leisure time for a swim, have a drink, or take a stroll.
Finally, we will return to the meeting point in Santiago de Compostela, arriving approximately ten hours after we began our adventure.
Boat trip with mussel tasting
For a more enriching experience, consider adding a boat trip along the Rías Baixas. This excursion, lasting 1 hour and 15 minutes, will showcase the mussel beds where these delectable molluscs are cultivated. You'll also partake in a mussel tasting session, paired with your choice of local wine or soft drinks.
During April, May, June, and October (the off-peak season), the boat departs from the port of O Grove. Meanwhile, from July to September (the peak season), the journey will start from the marina in Combarro. Guests who don’t wish to join the boat trip will enjoy free time in either O Grove or Combarro.
After the boat excursion concludes, we will return to Santiago de Compostela, completing our ten-hour day of exploration.
