La Gran Piedra Excursion
We'll pick you up at your accommodation in Santiago de Cuba at 9 am. After an hour-long bus ride, we'll arrive at the Sierra Maestra mountain range, where La Gran Piedra is located.
La Gran Piedra measures 51 meters (167 feet) long and 30 meters (98 feet) wide, weighing over 60,000 tons. We'll walk up the 452 steps to the viewpoint at 1,225 meters (over 4,000 feet) above sea level.
After descending, we'll visit the coffee plantation of La Isabelica, taking a tour of this hacienda and its museum, a World Heritage Site. We will learn about the history of French-Haitian emigration relevant to agriculture in southern Cuba.
Next, we will have a Creole-style lunch at the local restaurant Terrazas La Caridad, followed by a traditional coffee ritual.
Finally, we will return to your accommodation in Santiago de Cuba, with an arrival time scheduled for 3 pm.
