Excursion to La Gran Piedra

Your adventure begins with a pickup from your hotel in Santiago de Cuba at 9 am. After approximately one hour of travel by bus, we will reach the Sierra Maestra mountain range, home to La Gran Piedra.

This massive volcanic formation is remarkable in size, stretching 51 meters (167 feet) in length and 30 meters (98 feet) in width, and boasting an impressive weight of over 60,000 tons. We will ascend the 452 steps leading to the summit, which stands at 1,225 meters (over 4,000 feet) above sea level, where you can enjoy stunning vistas!

After basking in the views, we will make our way back down and continue the excursion at the La Isabelica coffee plantation. Here, a guided tour will allow you to explore this historic hacienda and its museum, recognized as a World Heritage Site. You will also gain insight into the significance of French-Haitian emigration, which played a crucial role in shaping agricultural practices in southern Cuba.

Our next stop will be the local restaurant Terrazas La Caridad, where you can savor a Creole-style lunch, followed by a traditional coffee ritual to immerse yourself in local culture.

At the end of the day, we will return to your accommodation in Santiago de Cuba, with arrival expected around 3 pm.
