La Gran Piedra Excursion
Pickup will be at your accommodation in Santiago de Cuba at 9 am. After an hour-long bus ride, we will arrive at the Sierra Maestra mountain range, where La Gran Piedra is located.
The dimensions of this volcanic rock are notable, extending 51 meters (167 feet) long and 30 meters (98 feet) wide, weighing over 60,000 tons. We'll walk up the 452 steps to the top , reaching a viewpoint at 1,225 meters (over 4,000 feet) above sea level.
After descending, we will continue at the coffee plantation of La Isabelica, visiting the hacienda and its museum, recognized as a World Heritage Site. You will learn about the history of French-Haitian emigration and its impact on agriculture in southern Cuba.
Next, we'll visit the local restaurant Terrazas La Caridad for a Creole-style lunch, followed by a traditional coffee ritual.
Finally, we will return to your accommodation in Santiago de Cuba, arriving around 3 pm.
