Machu Picchu 2-Day Trip

Day 1: Cusco – Hydroelectrical Plant – Pueblo de Machu Picchu

Depart from your hotel in Cusco between 6 and 6:30 am by minibus to Ollantaytambo, with a brief stop for breakfast. Start ascending the Abra Malaga route to 4319 meters (14,160 feet) for stunning views. Descend through the jungle to Santa Maria at 1250 meters (4101 feet) for a snack, then proceed to Santa Teresa and the Hydroelectrical Plant for lunch. Afterward, embark on a 3-hour hike to the access point of Machu Picchu. Enjoy dinner and overnight at a local lodge.

Day 2: Machu Picchu – Cusco

Start early with breakfast at the hotel, followed by a 5 am ascent on foot to Machu Picchu. After a 1 hour 30 minute trek, witness an unforgettable sunrise and take photos. Participate in a 2-hour guided tour of the site to appreciate its architecture. At 10:30 am, begin the descent back to Aguas Calientes, with a bus option available. From Aguas Calientes, return by bus or hike back to the Abra Malaga pass before heading back to Cusco, arriving around 9:30 pm.

This tour includes 1-night accommodation with breakfast at the Alegrias Inn Machu Picchu or a similar place.
