Machu Picchu 2-Day Trip
Day 1: Cusco – Hydroelectrical Plant – Pueblo de Machu Picchu
Pickup from your hotel in Cusco is between 6 and 6:30 am. A minibus will take you to Ollantaytambo, with a quick breakfast stop en route to the Sacred Valley of the Incas.
You will ascend to 4319 meters (14,160 feet) for panoramic views. Following this, descend through the jungle to Santa Maria at 1250 meters (4101 feet) for a snack. Continue to Santa Teresa, the entryway to the Hydroelectrical Plant, where lunch will be provided at a local restaurant. You will then hike for 3 hours to the access point of Machu Picchu's ruins.
Dinner and overnight will be at a local lodge.
Day 2: Machu Picchu – Cusco
The day starts early with breakfast at the hotel and a 5 am ascent on foot to Machu Picchu. After a 1 hour 30-minute trek, enjoy an unforgettable sunrise. A 2-hour guided tour will follow, exploring the architecture and engineering of the site.
At 10:30 am, you will begin the descent to Aguas Calientes, with the option to return by bus. From Aguas Calientes, you may return by bus or walk via the Abra Malaga pass to Hidroeléctrica, followed by a bus ride back to Cusco, where drop-off is around 9:30 pm near Plaza de Armas.
Accommodation
The tour includes 1-night accommodation with breakfast at the Alegrias Inn Machu Picchu or a similar category in Machu Picchu.
