Machu Picchu 2-Day Trip

Day 1: Cusco – Hydroelectrical Plant – Pueblo de Machu Picchu

Pickup from your hotel in Cusco will be between 6 and 6:30 am for a minibus journey to Ollantaytambo, with scenic views en route to the Sacred Valley of the Incas.

After a brief breakfast stop, we will start the Abra Malaga route, ascending to 4319 meters (14,160 feet) for remarkable views. We then descend through the jungle to Santa Maria at 1250 meters (4101 feet) before a short snack break. Continuing to Santa Teresa, we will visit the Hydroelectrical Plant where we will have lunch at a local restaurant before embarking on a 3-hour hike to the access point of Machu Picchu. After dinner, we will overnight at a local lodge.

Day 2: Machu Picchu – Cusco

Day two begins early with breakfast at the hotel. At 5 am, we will start the ascent to Machu Picchu, reaching the citadel after a 1.5-hour trek for a memorable sunrise and photo opportunities.

A 2-hour guided tour of Machu Picchu will follow, highlighting its architectural significance. We will begin our descent to Aguas Calientes at 10:30 am, with an option to return by bus.

From Aguas Calientes, return options include bus or hiking via the Abra Malaga pass to Hidroeléctrica, followed by a bus ride back to Cusco, arriving around 9:30 pm.

Accommodation

The tour includes 1-night accommodation with breakfast at the Alegrias Inn Machu Picchu or a similar establishment.

Cancellations due to strikes or weather will offer a rescheduled date or a full refund, except for the non-cancellable Machu Picchu entrance fee (200PEN).
