Machu Picchu 2-Day Journey
Day 1: Cusco – Hydroelectrical Plant – Machu Picchu Pueblo
Beginning your day, we will collect you from your accommodation in Cusco between 6:00 and 6:30 am. Our minibus ride will take us to Ollantaytambo, where you can enjoy panoramic views en route to the Sacred Valley of the Incas.
A brief stop will allow for breakfast before we embark on the Abra Malaga route. Ascending to an altitude of 4319 meters (14,160 feet) above sea level, we will revel in some of the finest vistas that Peruvian geography has to offer.
Once we finish absorbing the stunning scenery, we will start our descent through the jungles leading us to Santa Maria, located at 1250 meters (4101 feet) above sea level. A short pause for a snack will help us recharge before we reach Santa Teresa, the gateway to the Hydroelectrical Plant, where we will leave the minibus to enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. After refueling, we will embark on a 3-hour hike to the entry point of the Machu Picchu ruins.
At this location, we will have dinner and spend the night in a cozy local lodge.
Day 2: Machu Picchu – Cusco
The second day starts early, but promises to be incredibly rewarding. After breakfast at the lodge, we will commence our foot ascent to the iconic citadel of Machu Picchu at 5 am. A trek lasting approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes will lead us to an unforgettable sunrise, providing the perfect opportunity for captivating photos!
Upon arrival, we will engage in a 2-hour guided tour of the incredible lost city of the Incas. As we wander through its narrow streets and intricate passages, you'll come to appreciate its architectural and engineering marvels.
At 10:30 am, we will begin our descent back to Aguas Calientes. You also have the option to return by bus if you prefer.
From Aguas Calientes, you may travel back either by bus or on foot via the Abra Malaga pass to Hidroeléctrica. Following this, we will make our way back to Cusco by bus, expected to drop you off near Plaza de Armas by 9:30 pm.
