Machu Picchu 2-Day Trip

Day 1: Cusco – Hydroelectrical Plant – Pueblo de Machu Picchu

You will be picked up from your hotel in Cusco between 6 and 6:30 am for a minibus ride to Ollantaytambo, passing through the Sacred Valley of the Incas.

After a brief breakfast stop, we will begin the Abra Malaga route, climbing to 4319 meters (14,160 feet) for breathtaking views. Following this, we will descend to Santa Maria at 1250 meters (4101 feet), have a snack, and reach Santa Teresa, the entry to the Hydroelectrical Plant. After lunch, a 3-hour hike will take us to the access point of Machu Picchu.

You will have dinner and stay overnight in a local lodge.

Day 2: Machu Picchu – Cusco

The second day starts early with breakfast at the hotel. At 5 am, we begin our ascent on foot to Machu Picchu. After 1 hour and 30 minutes, we'll witness a sunrise, ideal for photos.

We will take a 2-hour guided tour of the city, exploring its architecture and engineering. At 10:30 am, we will start our descent to Aguas Calientes on foot or by bus, depending on your preference.

From Aguas Calientes, you can return by bus or hike via the Abra Malaga pass to Hidroeléctrica. We will then take a bus back to Cusco, arriving around 9:30 pm.

Accommodation

The tour includes 1-night accommodation with breakfast at the Alegrias Inn Machu Picchu, or a similar hotel.

Important

Occasionally, tickets to Machu Picchu may sell out, in which case an alternative route will be offered. You can check for alternative routes in the event of unavailability.

If alternative routes are sold out, other scenic tours will be available for an additional guide fee ranging from 70USD (for 1 person) to 35USD (for 2 people).

In case of tour cancellation due to strikes or adverse weather, an alternative date will be provided. If rescheduling is not possible, a full refund will be issued, excluding the non-cancellable entrance fee to Machu Picchu (200 PEN).
