Machu Picchu 2-Day Trip

Day 1: Cusco – Hydroelectrical Plant – Pueblo de Machu Picchu

Pickup from your hotel in Cusco will be between 6 and 6:30 am. We will drive to Ollantaytambo, stopping briefly for breakfast. We will ascend to 4319 meters (14,160 feet) above sea level, where you can enjoy panoramic views before descending to Santa Maria at 1250 meters (4101 feet). After a snack break, we will reach Santa Teresa and then the Hydroelectrical Plant, where lunch will be provided. Following this, a 3-hour hike will lead us to the access point for Machu Picchu, where dinner and overnight accommodation will be arranged in a local lodge.

Day 2: Machu Picchu – Cusco

The second day starts early with breakfast. Beginning at 5 am, we will hike to the iconic citadel, arriving after a 1-hour 30-minute trek in time for sunrise. A 2-hour guided tour will follow in Machu Picchu. At 10:30 am, we will start the descent to Aguas Calientes, either on foot or by bus. From Aguas Calientes, we return to Hidroeléctrica and then by bus back to Cusco, arriving around 9:30 pm.

Accommodation

The tour includes 1-night accommodation with breakfast at the Alegrias Inn Machu Picchu or similar.

Important

Due to high demand, tickets to Machu Picchu may sell out. In this case, an alternative route will be offered. Optionally, scenic tours are available for an additional guide fee of 70USD (1 person) or 35USD (2 people).

If the activity is cancelled due to strikes or adverse weather, an alternative date will be offered or a full refund minus the non-cancellable entrance fee of 200PEN will be provided.
