Machu Picchu Day Trip

We'll pick you up from your hotel in Cusco to head to the train station for the archaeological site of Machu Picchu. Enjoy a remarkable train journey through scenic landscapes. Upon arrival at Aguas Calientes, a short 30-minute bus ride will take you to the Lost City of the Incas.

During your guided visit of Machu Picchu, explore significant landmarks and learn about Inca culture. After the visit, you'll return to Aguas Calientes and have free time for 2-5 hours for lunch at local restaurants. We will then return to Cusco, arriving 14 to 18 hours later.

Types of Train

The excursion features panoramic trains with huge windows and glass roofs. Options include economy class (Expedition or Voyager train) and first class (Vistadome or The 360º train).

Departure Stations and Transfers

Trains depart from Poroy station (30 minutes from Cusco) or Ollantaytambo station (1.5 hours from Cusco) based on availability. Note that Poroy station closes during the rainy season (December to March), so a bus will transport you to Ollantaytambo. Pickup times and departure stations will be confirmed via email.

Expected travel time is 4 hours from Poroy and 1.5 hours from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes.

Pickup

Pickup occurs between 4 am and 6 am from hotels in Cusco's historic centre. For those outside the centre, we will meet at the Cathedral in Plaza de Armas. Time will be confirmed before the activity.

Important

If the activity is canceled due to strikes or bad weather, an alternative date will be offered. If rescheduling is impossible, a full refund will be provided.
