Machu Picchu is a significant site in Peru. This day trip from Cusco offers an opportunity to explore its historical importance.

Machu Picchu Day Trip

After hotel pickup, we travel to the train station for Machu Picchu. The train journey covers 112 kilometers in approximately 3.5 hours, featuring a glass roof for panoramic views of the landscape.

Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, we will take a 25 to 30-minute bus ride to Machu Picchu. A guided tour of the citadel lasts 2 hours 30 minutes, covering its history and architecture. After the tour, you have 2 to 5 hours of free time in Aguas Calientes before returning by train, depending on Machu Picchu operating hours and return train schedules.

We will return to your hotel in Cusco by bus after arriving back in the capital.

Panoramic Train

The journey is conducted on panoramic trains with large windows and a glass roof. Options include economy class (Expedition or Voyager train) or first class (Vistadome 360º train).

Pickup

Pickup occurs between 4 am and 6 am from hotels in historic Cusco. If your hotel is outside the center, we will meet you at the Cathedral in Plaza de Armas. The pickup time is confirmed based on train availability.

Departure stations and duration

Trains may depart from either Poroy (30 minutes from Cusco) or Ollantaytambo (1 hour 30 minutes from Cusco), depending on availability. During the rainy season (December to March), trains run only from Ollantaytambo. The journey from Poroy to Aguas Calientes takes around 4 hours, while from Ollantaytambo, it takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Important to note

If the tour is canceled due to strikes or adverse weather, you may reschedule or receive a refund, excluding the non-refundable Machu Picchu entrance fee (approx. 200 PEN). In high-demand periods, alternative routes may be offered. Links to regular and alternative routes are provided.
