Discover the history and landscapes of southern Peru on the Ruta del Sol from Cusco to Puno.

Description

We'll set off on the Ruta del Sol at the scheduled time from Avenida 28 de Julio. An hour later, we'll arrive in Andahuaylillas to visit the San Pedro Apóstol church, known as "America's Sistine Chapel." Inside, we'll admire works of sacred art combining Renaissance and Baroque styles.

Next, we'll visit the Raqchi archaeological site, home to the remains of the ancient temple of the god Wiracocha. On the guided tour, we will explore the worship practices and the legacy of this deity.

Following this, we'll stop for an hour at a local restaurant for a buffet lunch. Then, we will head to Abra La Raya, a mountain pass over 4,300 metres high, to enjoy its views, before moving on to the interpretation centre in Pukara.

The Ruta del Sol will conclude back in Puno, where we will arrive by 5:30 pm.
