Tour Details
We will meet at the Cripta de Bernardo O’Higgins to start this free tour of Santiago. The first stop will be the presidential seat of the Republic of Chile, where we'll watch the changing of the guard of the carabineros of the La Moneda Palace.
After the guard ceremony, we will learn about the history of La Moneda, a palace that dates back to the colonial era. The tour will cover significant events, including the coup d'état of 1973 and the death of Chilean President Salvador Allende.
Next, we'll pass other city highlights, including the Palacio de los Tribunales de Justicia and the former National Congress, which was closed in 1973 by Augusto Pinochet's military government.
We will continue to Plaza de Armas to explore the city’s Inca past and appreciate the exterior of the Cathedral, including its history and secrets.
After a tour of approximately 2 hours, we'll conclude next to the equestrian statue of Pedro de Valdivia.
