In this free tour of Santiago, we'll walk through the centre of the Chilean capital and observe the Changing of the Presidential Guard at La Moneda Palace.

Description

We will meet at the Plaza de Armas to start this free tour of Santiago and learn about the city's history. The first stop will be La Moneda, where we will watch the changing of the guard of the carabineros at the main facade of the palace.

After the event, ongoing since 1851, we will remain at La Moneda to discuss its historical significance, including its origins in the colonial era and the coup d'état of 1973 involving President Salvador Allende.

We will continue the tour, visiting notable sites such as the Palacio de los Tribunales de Justicia and the former National Congress, which was closed in 1973 by Augusto Pinochet's military government.

Next, we will explore Plaza de Armas, delving into the city's Inca past and viewing the exterior of the Cathedral, discussing its history.

After approximately 2 hours, we will conclude the free tour at the starting point, next to the equestrian statue of Pedro de Valdivia.

Changing of the Guard

Please note that the changing of the guard may not occur outside of La Moneda Palace due to unforeseen circumstances.
