In this free tour of Santiago, we'll walk through the centre of the Chilean capital and see the Changing of the Presidential Guard at La Moneda Palace.

Description

We will meet at the Plaza de Armas to begin this free tour of Santiago. We will visit the presidential seat of the Republic of Chile, stopping in front of the main facade to watch the changing of the guard of the carabineros of La Moneda Palace.

After this event, held since 1851, we will learn about La Moneda's history, including its origins in the colonial era and details about the coup d'état of 1973 and the death of President Salvador Allende.

Additionally, we will visit other city highlights, such as the Palacio de los Tribunales de Justicia and the former National Congress, which was closed in 1973 by the military government of Augusto Pinochet.

Near the Plaza de Armas, we will explore the city's Inca past and admire the exterior of the Cathedral, discussing its history and secrets.

After approximately 2 hours, we will conclude the free tour at the starting point, next to the equestrian statue of Pedro de Valdivia.
