In this free tour of Santiago, we will walk through the centre of the Chilean capital and witness the Changing of the Presidential Guard at La Moneda Palace.

Description

We will meet at Plaza de Armas to start this free tour of Santiago. The first stop will be the presidential seat of the Republic of Chile, where we will observe the changing of the guard of the carabineros at La Moneda Palace.

After this event, established in 1851, we will remain in front of La Moneda to discuss its history, including its colonial era origins and the coup d'état of 1973 involving President Salvador Allende.

We will continue exploring other city highlights, such as the Palacio de los Tribunales de Justicia and the former National Congress, shut down in 1973 by Augusto Pinochet's military government.

We will also visit Plaza de Armas to uncover the city’s Inca past. The tour includes admiring the exterior of the Cathedral and discussing its history.

After approximately 2 hours, we will conclude the tour at the starting point, next to the equestrian statue of Pedro de Valdivia.

Changing of the Guard

Please note that due to unforeseen circumstances, the changing of the guard does not occur outside La Moneda Palace.
