Travel through time to the revolution of Túpac Amaru II and an elegant stately home on this day trip to Raqchi, Tinta and San Lorenzo de Valleumbroso Estate.
Day Trip Details
We’ll pick you up at your hotel at the indicated time to begin a full-day excursion through some of the most fascinating cultural and historical sites in the Cusco region: Raqchi, Tinta, and the San Lorenzo de Valleumbroso Hacienda.
Our first stop will be San Pedro de Cacha, on the banks of the Vilcanota River, to visit the archaeological site of Raqchi, once the capital of the Kanchis nation. Here, we’ll explore the Temple of Wiracocha, colcas, and royal tambos.
Next, we’ll head to Tinta, the site of the uprising led by Tupac Amaru II. We will visit his house-museum and significant landmarks, followed by a stop at the 17th-century church featuring a golden altar and colonial artworks. Afterward, you’ll have time for lunch at a local restaurant.
We’ll then continue to the colonial bridge of Tinta, built in 1740, before making our way to the Hacienda of San Lorenzo de Valleumbroso, a colonial mansion built atop Inca foundations.
We’ll explore the estate’s arcaded patios, halls, and open courtyards, with views of the Cusco Valley. Declared a Cultural Heritage Site of Peru in 1991, the hacienda is currently undergoing restoration.
After this immersive day of history and culture, we’ll return to your hotel, arriving 10 hours later.
