Vitcos Day Trip

We'll pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at 2 am and set off for the district of Vilcabamba. On the way, we'll cross the Sacred Valley of the Incas and part of the Abra Malaga Route. We'll then descend through the Lucumayo Valley and cross the Vilcanota River via the Chaullay Bridge.

Upon arrival at the village of Huancacalle, you'll have time for breakfast. We'll start a hiking route up to the Vitcos archaeological complex, where the monarch Manco Inca II was assassinated. We will discuss the history of this site while enjoying views of the Vilcabamba valley.

In Vitcos, we'll see its pink stone constructions, also known as Rosaspata. We'll explore its three sectors, including the main square, ceremonial monuments, and the Wanca. A highlight will be the White Rock, carved with representations of the Inca Cross or Chakana.

Afterwards, we'll pass through Lucma to see the colonial Church of St. Peter and St. Paul, built over an Inca oratory. We'll also see its bell tower and mural paintings.

Finally, we'll stop at a local restaurant for lunch before returning to Cusco, arriving at your hotel by 9 pm.
