Vitcos Day Trip

We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at 2 am and set off for the district of Vilcabamba. We will cross the Sacred Valley of the Incas and the Abra Malaga Route, with peaks at 14,160 feet (4,316 meters). After descending through the Lucumayo Valley and crossing the Vilcanota River via the Chaullay Bridge, we will reach the village of Huancacalle, where you can have breakfast.

From there, we will hike to the Vitcos archaeological complex, site of the assassination of monarch Manco Inca II. Enjoy views of the Vilcabamba valley at 8,860 feet (2,700 meters) above sea level while discussing the history of this area.

In Vitcos, we will explore its pink stone constructions, also known as Rosaspata, including the main square, ceremonial monuments, and the Wanca. A notable feature is the White Rock, carved with the representations of the Inca Cross or Chakana.

We will continue on the bus through Lucma to see the colonial Church of St. Peter and St. Paul, built in Baroque style over an Inca oratory using materials from the archaeological complex of Incahuarakana.

Finally, we will stop at a local restaurant for lunch before returning to Cusco, where we will arrive at your hotel by 9 pm.
