Colonial Zone Neighborhood Bicycle Tour
Our adventure begins at the scheduled meeting point on Arzobispo Meriño Street. From this key location, we will embark on a cycling journey through Santo Domingo's Colonial Zone.
The initial stop will be Colon Park, where we will take in the stunning façade of the Primada de América Cathedral. Following a brief history lesson, we will proceed to Billini Square, where we will observe the exterior of the well-known Casa del Tostado and learn about its unique name.
Next, we will continue our ride through the Colonial Zone, stopping at Duarte Park. Here, we will see the remains of the Convent of Los Dominicos before cycling on to the Church of Las Mercedes. Our journey will then take us to the Monument to Balandra Aurora and the impressive Santo Domingo Obelisk.
As we follow the walls of the Old City, we will arrive at San José Park, featuring the striking Monument to Fray Antonio de Montesinos. From there, we will make our way to Pellerano Castro Square, which marks the beginning of the historic Calle de las Damas, the oldest street in Santo Domingo!
Our next destination will be Plaza de España, where we can admire the architecture of the renowned Alcázar de Colón. After exploring its rich history, we will venture into Santa Barbara before concluding at the Ruins of San Francisco.
After a delightful 2-hour biking exploration of the oldest parts of the Dominican capital, we will return to our original meeting point.
