Tour Details
Join us to travel back in time to the beginning of the 19th century and discover the past of this city. Napoleon Bonaparte will be waiting for us next to the Letras de Santoña on the seafront promenade.
We'll tour the Cantabrian town accompanied by the French general, who will tell us the history of the most iconic local forts. These include the forts of San Martín and San Carlos, pivotal in protecting the bay of Santoña. Bonaparte will narrate his stories of battle.
Next, we'll visit the interior of the fort of San Carlos to learn about its strategic function. During the tour, you'll need to keep up with the French emperor's military marching and adhere to his soldierly instructions.
Throughout the dramatised tour of Napoleonic Santoña, we'll discover why both British and French flags are flying on the promenade. During the six years of French occupation, the town was referred to as “the French or northern Gibraltar.”
We'll conclude the tour in the centre of Santoña, saying au revoir to Napoleon after an immersive 1 hour and 15 minutes.
