Dramatised Tour of Napoleonic Santoña

On this dramatised tour, you will journey back to the early 19th century and explore the history of Santoña alongside Napoleon Bonaparte. The tour begins at the Monument to Juan de la Cosa on the seafront promenade.

During the tour, you will be accompanied by Napoleon, who will share the history of significant local forts, such as San Martín and San Carlos, crucial for the protection of the Santoña bay. Details of battles will be revealed by Bonaparte himself.

The tour includes a visit to the interior of Fort San Carlos, where you will learn about its strategic function. Participants should be prepared to keep pace with the French emperor’s military marching and heed his instructions.

In addition, the tour will explain the significance of the British and French flags flying on the promenade. During the French occupation, Santoña was referred to as "the French or northern Gibraltar."

The experience concludes in the center of Santoña after an hour and a half with Napoleon.
