In this tour of the Fort of San Carlos, we'll visit an important monument in Santoña and take a boat ride to the Caballo lighthouse.

Fort of San Carlos Tour + Boat Ride

We will meet on Calle Juan de la Cosa to begin the guided tour. We will walk approximately 3 kilometers to reach the fort, discussing the significance of these defensive constructions in Santoña.

Upon arrival, we will explore the fort to understand its strategic position and its role in protecting the bay. Santoña was historically known as the Gibraltar of the North and was pivotal in naval interests during the 17th and 18th centuries.

Following the fort visit, we will embark on a one-hour boat ride to the Caballo Lighthouse, built in 1863. This lighthouse offers views of Santoña and the Bay of Biscay, making it an excellent photo opportunity.

The activity will conclude after two and a half hours at the port of Santoña.
