Fort of San Carlos Tour + Boat Ride

At the appointed time, we'll meet on Calle Juan de la Cosa to begin this guided tour of the Fort of San Carlos.

First, we'll walk approximately 3 kilometers to reach the fort. During the tour, we'll discuss the importance of these defensive constructions in Santoña and share various facts about the geographical context of this Cantabrian town.

Upon arrival, we'll enter the fort to learn about its strategic position and its role in controlling access to the bay. Santoña was recognized as the Gibraltar of the North and was significant for naval interests during the 17th and 18th centuries.

Following the fort visit, we'll take a one-hour boat ride to the Caballo Lighthouse, which overlooks Santoña and the Bay of Biscay. Built in 1863, this lighthouse is situated in a picturesque location on a hill, ideal for photos.
