Fort of San Carlos Tour + Boat Ride
We will meet on Calle Juan de la Cosa at the scheduled time to begin this guided tour of the Fort of San Carlos.
The first part involves a walk of about 3 kilometers to reach the fort, where we will discuss the importance of these defensive constructions in Santoña and share various insights about the geographical context of the area.
Upon arrival at the fort, we will explore its interior to understand its strategic position and its role in protecting access to the bay. Santoña has historical significance, often referred to as the Gibraltar of the North, particularly during the 17th and 18th centuries related to naval interests.
Following the fort visit, we will take a one-hour boat ride to the Caballo Lighthouse, built in 1863, which offers a scenic view of Santoña and the Bay of Biscay—a great opportunity for photographs.
The activity will conclude after two and a half hours at the port of Santoña.
