We'll meet up at the designated time near the mural of Santoña, situated alongside the Avenida de Lons parking lot. Prepare to discover one of Cantabria's hidden treasures!
Before commencing our excursion, we'll delve into the history and culture of Santoña, featuring notable figures like Juan de la Cosa, an esteemed sailor and cartographer from Santoña who played a role in the exploration of the Americas, and the intriguing tales of the Faro del Caballo and Santoña's renowned Carnival.
Next, we'll visit the Natural Park of the Marshes of Santoña, Victoria, and Joyel. This expansive wetland, among the largest in the northern Iberian Peninsula, boasts significant environmental value and serves as a habitat for diverse migratory bird species.
Continuing our journey, we'll visit one of Santoña's anchovy canning factories. The specific factory will vary depending on the season. We'll witness the process of preparing anchovy fillets, from fish cleaning to their arrangement and packaging for distribution.
Concluding our guided tour of the factory, we'll enjoy a tasting session of Santoña's renowned anchovies, a symbol of Cantabrian cuisine.
