Description
We'll meet at the designated time near the mural of Santoña, alongside the Avenida de Lons parking lot. This journey will uncover one of Cantabria's hidden treasures.
Before starting, we'll explore the history and culture of Santoña, including notable figures like Juan de la Cosa, a sailor and cartographer linked to the exploration of the Americas. We will also share stories about the Faro del Caballo and Santoña's celebrated Carnival, recognized as a Festival of National Tourist Interest.
Next, we'll visit the Natural Park of the Marshes of Santoña, Victoria, and Joyel. This large wetland is significant for its diverse migratory bird populations.
Continuing, we'll tour one of Santoña's anchovy canning factories, with the specific factory varying by season. Participants will observe the process of preparing anchovy fillets, from cleaning to packaging.
Our tour concludes with a tasting session featuring Santoña's renowned anchovies, a symbol of Cantabrian cuisine.
