Discover the anchovy canning process in Cantabria with this Santoña Canning Factory & Marshland Tour. You'll also visit one of the town's most visited locations.

Description

We'll meet at the designated time near the mural of Santoña, located alongside the Avenida de Lons parking lot. Prepare to discover one of Cantabria's hidden treasures.

Before the excursion, we'll explore the history and culture of Santoña, highlighting notable figures like Juan de la Cosa, a sailor and cartographer involved in the exploration of the Americas. We will also share stories about the Faro del Caballo and the town's famous Carnival, recognized as a Festival of National Tourist Interest.

Next, we'll visit the Natural Park of the Marshes of Santoña, Victoria, and Joyel, one of the largest wetlands in northern Spain, crucial for migratory bird species.

Continuing, we'll tour one of Santoña's anchovy canning factories, with the specific location varying by season. You will witness the anchovy fillet preparation process, including cleaning, arranging, and packaging.

Our tour concludes with a tasting session of Santoña's renowned anchovies, a symbol of Cantabrian cuisine.
