Tour of Port and Fish Market in Santoña + Anchovy Museum

Tour Details

At the designated time, we’ll meet at the Mirador de las Marismas pier to begin our tour. This experience focuses on the elaboration process of Santoña's famous anchovy.

We’ll start by exploring the fishing port in this Cantabrian town and learning about its operations, emphasizing its status as the most important port in Cantabria. The tour includes discussions on the purse seine boats and marine vocabulary.

Next, we’ll enter the fish market to observe the auction room and learn about the activities involved in the fish sale after unloading from the boats.

Continuing, we’ll visit the Galería de Arte de la Anchoa de Conservas Ana María or Anchovy Museum. This exhibition space features 20th-century machinery and the process of filleting anchovies.

Finally, participants will taste an anchovy fillet to conclude the tour. After 2 hours, we will say goodbye at the Anchovy Museum in Santoña.
