Description

At the time indicated, we'll pick you up from your hotel to start our panoramic tour of São Luís. This city is unique as it is the only Brazilian city founded by the French. During the tour, we will learn about its history and culture.

São Luís is recognized for its traditional Afro-indigenous festival, Bumba-Meu-Boi, and as the home of notable poets and writers. The tour begins at the São Luís beaches, where we will see the Espigão, designed to protect the city from strong waves, and pass by the Jansen lake, sharing the legend associated with its name as we cross the bridge over the Anil River.

We will then arrive in the urban area of São Luís, exploring the historical centre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997, on foot. The city features over 3,000 buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries, showcasing structures decorated with various colored tiles.

Highlights include visits to the São Luís Cathedral, the iconic Rua do Giz, and the Palácio dos Leões, the state Government headquarters. The tour concludes with a visit to the Tulhas Market, a shopping center specializing in Maranhão products. After a 3-hour tour around São Luís, we will return to our vehicle and drop you off at your hotel.
