Day Trip to Aparecida

On this day trip to Aparecida from Sao Paulo, you'll explore the Brazilian city famous for the Basilica of the National Shrine of Our Lady of Aparecida, one of the largest in the world.

Description

At the agreed time, we will depart from Sao Paulo heading to Aparecida, located in the valley of the River Paraíba do Sul. This city attracts thousands of pilgrims annually.

Our first stop will be at Porto do Itaguaçú, where the image of Our Lady of Aparecida was discovered in the 18th century. We will visit the small chapel dedicated to the virgin, situated by the River Paraíba do Sul.

Next, we will head to the historical center to visit the Old Basilica of Aparecida, where you will have 40 minutes of free time for exploration or shopping. We will then cross the Passarela da Fé, a 35-meter high walkway that connects the Old Basilica with the National Shrine. Originally built for access between the two temples, this 389-meter-long walkway has become a tourist attraction, with some visitors crossing on their knees in gratitude.

After a 20-minute crossing, we will explore the National Shrine of Our Lady of Aparecida, one of the largest basilicas globally, featuring the Sala das Promessas as a key highlight of the visit.

Later, you will have free time for lunch and to explore the city. Options include taking the cable car, visiting the Tower Museum, or Monte das Oliveiras. Finally, we will return to the initial meeting point in Sao Paulo.
