Are you in Sapporo? If so, join us on this trip to Noboribetsu and Lake Toya and discover a town with the most famous hot springs in Hokkaido and a lagoon in a volcanic caldera.
Description
We will meet at Sapporo Station to start this day trip to Noboribetsu, known for its hot springs and volcanic landscape.
In Noboribetsu, we'll visit Jigokudani, a crater formed around 10,000 years ago, and Oyunuma Pond, a hot spring with sulphur water. Depending on the season, you may take an open-air dip and relax.
Next, we'll head to Lake Toya, a nearly circular freshwater lagoon surrounded by mountains and forests. There will be time for photos of its natural beauty.
We will also visit the Showa Shinzan Bear Ranch, home to about 100 Hokkaido brown bears. The tour includes a stop at the Touyako Sero Lake Observatory Shikotsu Toya National Park Silo Observatory for panoramic views of the area.
The last stop will be in Otaru, a former port town known for its well-preserved old canal and 19th-century warehouses. We will have a lunch break to sample local fresh fish, including sushi.
After 10 hours, we'll conclude our trip back at Sapporo Station.
