Sarajevo Walking Tour
We will meet at Zelenih Beretki 30 at the specified time to begin our guided walking tour of Sarajevo, the capital and a symbol of the Balkan War from the 1990s.
During the guided tour of Sarajevo, we will learn about the city's history as an Ottoman stronghold in the 15th century and its significance in the First World War, notably the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria.
We will visit Mejdan Park, noted for its architecture, including the Emperor's Mosque, and various religious sites such as mosques, synagogues, and churches, illustrating why Sarajevo is known as the “Jerusalem of Europe”.
Next, we will see the oldest brewery of the Ottoman Empire and explore traditional culinary streets like Bravadžiluk and Kazandžiluk.
We'll also pass by notable Sarajevo houses, including Bicakcic-Hadzisabanovic and Spite, and visit the cemetery honoring Bosnian defenders of the 1995 war.
Our route includes the Baš?aršija, the old bazaar, where we can browse stalls for souvenirs, and the lively Markale market. We will conclude the tour approximately 2 hours later back at the meeting point, after passing sites like the Sebilg Fountain and the Eternal Flame.
