Sarajevo Walking Tour
We will meet at Zelenih Beretki 30 at the scheduled time to begin our guided walking tour through the historic old town of Sarajevo, a symbol of the Balkan War from the 1990s.
During the tour, we will learn about the city's history, which was an Ottoman stronghold in the 15th century, and its significance in the First World War, particularly the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria.
The itinerary includes a visit to Mejdan Park along the Miljacka River, where we will observe the architecture of buildings, including the Emperor's Mosque and various religious temples. We will hear calls to prayer, illustrating why Sarajevo is known as the "Jerusalem of Europe".
Next, we will pass the oldest brewery of the Ottoman Empire and streets renowned for traditional cuisine, like Bravadžiluk and Kazandžiluk.
We will see iconic houses such as the Bicakcic-Hadzisabanovic and Spite, and continue along Kova?i Street to a cemetery honoring Bosnian war defenders.
We will also visit Baš?aršija, the old bazaar, and explore Bravadžiluk and Kazandžiluk streets, as well as the vibrant Markale market.
The tour concludes approximately 2 hours later at the meeting point after visiting highlights such as the Sebilg Fountain and the Eternal Flame.
