Sarajevo Walking Tour
Meeting at Zelenih Beretki 30 at the scheduled time, we will embark on a guided walking tour through the old town of Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is notable for its history related to the Balkan War in the 1990s.
The guided tour of Sarajevo will cover the city's extensive history, including its significance as an Ottoman stronghold in the 15th century and its role in the First World War, where Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria was assassinated.
We will visit Mejdan Park by the Miljacka River and view significant architectural sites such as the Emperor's Mosque, various religious temples including synagogues, mosques, and churches, highlighting its cultural diversity. Sarajevo is often referred to as the “Jerusalem of Europe”.
Our tour includes the oldest brewery of the Ottoman Empire and traditional cuisine streets like Bravadžiluk and Kazandžiluk.
We will pass iconic buildings such as the Bicakcic-Hadzisabanovic and Spite houses, then walk along Kova?i Street, where a cemetery honors Bosnian defenders from the war that concluded in 1995.
We will explore the Baš?aršija, the old bazaar, and navigate through Bravadžiluk and Kazandžiluk streets for local culinary offerings, visiting the vibrant Markale market as well. The tour will conclude approximately 2 hours after starting, returning to the meeting point.
