Explore the ancient city of Gjirokastër, known as the 'City of Stone', on this excursion from Saranda. This tour includes a visit to the castle and several museums, providing insights into the history of this area of Albania.
Excursion to Gjirokastër
At 9 am, we will meet at Tea Tours & Bookstore Toena and then board the vehicle for the journey to Gjirokastra, about an hour from Saranda.
Upon arrival, the historical charm of this ancient fortress city will be evident. A guided tour of this UNESCO-protected area will commence, focusing on its Ottoman history.
The first stop will be the Caste of Gjirokastra, followed by the Ethnographic Museum, showcasing interiors reminiscent of 19th-century houses. We will also visit the House of Zakat and Scaly, the oldest house in the city.
Next, we will explore the museum house of Ismail Kadare before having free time to explore the city and dine for lunch.
At the end of the tour, we will return to the meeting point after a total duration of 5 hours.
