Do you love history? On this day trip to the royal palaces of La Granja de San Ildefonso and Riofrío, you'll discover how the Spanish monarchs lived in their Segovian residences.
Day Trip Details
At the designated time, we'll meet in Plaza del Azoguejo. From this spot located at the foot of the Segovia Aqueduct, we'll head south.
After a 30-minute journey through a beautiful forest landscape, we'll reach the Royal Palace of Riofrío, a Rococo-style building from the 18th century commissioned by Philip V. It is surrounded by over 600 hectares of forest, suitable for montería, a traditional hunting technique. The visit includes the Museo de la Caza and the palace's main rooms displaying period furniture and decor.
After Riofrío, we'll proceed to the Royal Palace of La Granja de San Ildefonso. Here, you will have 30 to 45 minutes of free time for lunch and exploration. It is suggested to bring your own picnic; however, bars and restaurants are available. Following lunch, a guided tour will cover the palace's main rooms, the Real Colegiate, and the gardens' fountains, including the Fountain of Neptune. The tour concludes with a return to the meeting point in Segovia, completing the 5.5-hour day trip.
Children Under 5
This day trip is free for children under 5, as long as they do not occupy a seat on the transport and travel on an adult's lap.
La Granja Fountains
Please note that these fountains are not always operating, as their jets are activated on specific days in spring and summer, and on May 30, July 25, and August 25.
