As the sun begins to set in Segovia, its darkest and most unknown stories begin to emerge around its streets and most picturesque places. Immerse yourself in the most mysterious side of the city, while exploring its main corners with an official guide in Spanish, with our Legends and Mysteries of Segovia Tour.
We will meet at the Monument to Daoiz and Velarde, in front of the Alcázar of Segovia, which has witnessed countless stories about royalty throughout its centuries of history, some really bloody, such as that of the prince and the governess. Near this place, we will observe how the ancient Church of the Vera Cruz rises, closely linked to the Templars and cradle of curses and paranormal phenomena.
The enigmatic story of the Maid Olalla awaits us as we stroll through the Canonjías neighbourhood, just before moving on to the town of Torredondo without leaving Marqués del Arco street, to learn about the surprising legend that tells of the origin of the hills that preside over the entrance to this town in Segovia.
We will advance towards the long-standing Puerta de San Andrés and discover why it is also known as Puerta del Socorro. Next to what was the entrance to the Jewish quarter, we will also delve into the miraculous episode experienced by Marisaltos, a Sephardic neighbour of the city. We will go around the incredible Cathedral of Segovia until we reach the Plaza Mayor to reveal the tragic love story hidden behind the Recumbent Christ that houses the main temple.
The myths of Antonio Pérez or the Queen's Hair await us in squares such as Corpus Christi or Medina del Campo. As we continue walking, the unique façade of the Casa de los Picos will catch our attention and we will be able to learn about the theories that circulate about the construction of this curious doorway. Right next door, the ancient legend of the Dead Woman will surprise us while we enjoy an incredible postcard at the Mirador de la Canaleja.
There is no better location to end our mysterious tour than the imposing Segovia Aqueduct under the light of the stars. With thousands of years behind it, there are many fables that have it as their protagonist, but what relationship can this Roman-era construction have with the devil himself?
