In the abandoned and demilitarised city of Cheorwon, the legacy of the Korean conflict is prominent. This day trip from Seoul offers an exploration of its historical significance.

Description

The Korean War inflicted considerable damage to both military and civilian populations, with Cheorwon being particularly affected. Under North Korean control since 1945, it has undergone transformation in the post-war years, yet military trucks and checkpoints still signify its troubled history.

We will meet at your chosen pickup point to start our tour to the demilitarized area of Cheorwon. A plaque commemorates the conflict, and your guide will explain its meaning during the tour.

We will visit the Second Tunnel, the widest tunnel in Korea, used for surprise attacks and discovered in 1975. The tunnel spans 3.5 kilometres (2.1 miles), revealing an invasion route.

Next is the Cheorwon Peace Observatory, which honors the victims and provides views of the border area between the Koreas.

The tour continues to the Woljeong-ri Railway Station, which was severely damaged post-US bombing. We will enjoy a lunch of various vegetables before concluding the tour.

We will return to the pickup points in Seoul, wrapping up this 11-13 hour tour.
