On this guided visit to the Archive of the Indies, we'll explore the history of Seville and its connection with the Americas.

Description

We'll meet at the designated time outside the Archive of the Indies in Seville to begin our guided visit of this World Heritage Site. The tour will start at the main façade of the Archive, followed by a brief walk around the exterior. During this time, we will discuss the relationship between the Archive and surrounding buildings such as the Cathedral and Alcázar.

Moving inside, we will learn about the Archive's purpose and the treasures within. The institution was founded in 1785 by King Carlos III due to a conflict between Seville's Cathedral and the city's merchants in the 16th century. We will also discover the various uses of this space prior to its declaration as the General Archive of the Indies, viewing valuable objects and documents housed there.

The guided tour will conclude after an hour and 45 minutes at the front entrance to the Archive of the Indies.
