Glacier Hike in Kenai Fjords National Park
Bright and early, we'll meet at Seward Hwy, and a minibus will transport us to the heart of Kenai Fjords National Park to begin our journey through the glaciers.
Upon arrival, we'll don our crampons and trekking poles and set off, covering approximately six kilometers (4 miles) with an altitude change of roughly 500 meters (1,640 feet). The hike is challenging but offers rewarding scenery.
As we walk across the ice formations, we'll venture inside the Kenai Fjords glaciers, uncovering their origins and the effect of global warming on them.
Our guides will educate us about the wildlife inhabiting these lands, and we may see bears, moose, mountain goats, or marmots.
During the excursion, we'll take a break for a picnic that includes a sandwich, an energy bar, and a piece of fruit, enjoyed on the ice of the glaciers.
After eight hours of adventure, we'll return to our transportation and head back to the starting point for farewells.
