Private Tour of Shanghai's Jewish Quarter
We'll pick you up from your hotel and head to the Hongkou District, where Jewish refugees fleeing Europe made their new home in Shanghai.
As we stroll through this part of the city, we'll see the Ohel Moishe Synagogue, which is also home to the Jewish Refugee Museum. From here, we'll walk past Huoshan Park to visit Shanghai's only Jewish community commemorative plaque. During the tour, we'll discuss the hardships faced by the refugees upon arrival and the solidarity received from locals at that time.
Next, we'll head to Doulun Road, a pedestrian street with many historic buildings, museums, galleries, libraries, and cafes. Here, we'll appreciate the cultural and artistic diversity unique to Shanghai, with many famous writers, artists, politicians, and revolutionaries having walked this avenue.
Some of the places we'll pass by in Hongkou include Lu Xun House, Museum of Modern Art Shanghai, and Duolun History Museum, which narrates the evolution of this street from the 19th century to modern day. Additionally, we'll pass by Kong Xiangxi Temple, originally built by a Chinese banker and politician.
After 3 hours exploring the fascinating Jewish Quarter of Shanghai, we'll bring you back to your hotel.
