Laki Volcano Day Trip

At 9 am, pick-up is available from your selected point in Kirkjubæjarklaustur. You will board a jeep for the drive to Laki Volcano, approximately one and a half hours away.

During the tour, you will learn about the history of this significant volcanic rift, including its eruption over 200 years ago, which altered Europe's climate and resulted in the loss of a quarter of the Icelandic population.

Upon arrival, you'll ascend the mountain for two and a half hours to appreciate views of the craters and the Vatnajökull glacier. You will have the opportunity to take photographs and enjoy a picnic lunch you brought along.

The tour continues to the Tjarnargígur crater, where you can walk around and visit the lake formed within it. Another highlight is the hidden waterfall of Fagrifoss, where you will hike through a narrow gorge.

Finally, the group will return to the jeep and head back to Kirkjubæjarklaustur, concluding the day after 9 hours from the pick-up time.
