Laki Volcano Day Trip

On this day trip to Laki Volcano, we will explore the impact of its eruption over 200 years ago and its historical significance.

We will pick you up at 9 am from your selected point in Kirkjubæjarklaustur and travel by jeep to Laki Volcano, located an hour and a half away.

During the tour, we will learn how the eruption affected the climate of Europe and caused significant loss of life in Iceland. Upon arrival, we will drive up the mountain for two and a half hours to appreciate the views of the craters and Vatnajökull glacier. You may bring a picnic lunch to enjoy during this excursion.

Next, we will visit the Tjarnargígur crater and walk around the lake formed inside. Additionally, we will explore the hidden waterfall of Fagrifoss, where we will hike through a narrow gorge.

Finally, we will return to the jeep and head back to Kirkjubæjarklaustur, concluding the activity after 9 hours from the pickup time.
