Curious about pre-Columbian history? In this excursion to the Finca 6 Archaeological Site, we'll visit one of the main enclaves of the Diquís culture in Costa Rica.
Finca 6 Archaeological Site Excursion
We'll meet at 8 am at Sierpe's Pier, where we'll set off by road to the north of the town.
After a 15-minute drive, we'll arrive at the Finca 6 Archaeological Site, home to remnants of the Diquís culture, a pre-Columbian civilization from the Osa region.
We'll start a guided tour of the site, recognized as a World Heritage Site, featuring the mysterious stone spheres of the Diquís culture. The tour will address questions about the spheres' purpose and construction.
The tour includes a visit to the museum of Finca 6, where we will see four original pieces: a sphere, a statue with a spike base, a feline sculpture, and a ceremonial grinding stone, learning about their functionalities and the culture's significance.
After the museum visit, we'll return to Sierpe, arriving between 10 and 10:30 am.
