Finca 6 Archaeological Site Excursion
We'll meet at 8 am at Sierpe's Pier, where we'll set off by road to the north of the town.
After a short 15-minute drive, we'll arrive at the Finca 6 Archaeological Site, which features remnants of the Diquís culture. This pre-Columbian civilization existed in the current Costa Rican canton of Osa, where significant remains are located.
We'll begin a guided tour of the Finca 6 Archaeological Site, declared a World Heritage Site, observing the mysterious stone spheres of the Diquís culture. Questions regarding the purpose and construction of these spheres will be addressed during the tour.
The tour continues with a visit to the museum of Finca 6, where we will see four original pieces of great value: a sphere, a statue with a spike base, a feline sculpture, and a ceremonial grinding stone. The functionality of these objects and other relevant aspects of the Diquís culture will be explored.
After visiting the museum, we'll return to the meeting point in Sierpe and arrive between 10 and 10:30 am.
