Habarana Excursion

Discover the traditional lifestyle of Habarana and taste the delicious local gastronomy with this excursion from Sigiriya. You'll also enjoy a boat ride on the lake!

Habarana Excursion

At 10 am, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Sigiriya and travel to the town of Habarana, approximately thirty minutes away.

Upon arrival, we will switch from the tuk tuk to an ox-drawn cart, which will take us to the shores of Habarana Lake. After disembarking from the cart, we will board a boat for a ride across the lake.

After the boat ride, we'll visit rice fields to observe the cultivation of Asia's most common cereal grain. You will have the opportunity to stroll through the expansive rice fields.

Next, we will return to the center of Habarana to meet a local family who will teach us to prepare some of their traditional recipes. Following the cooking class, we'll enjoy a delicious buffet lunch including rice, curry, fish, salad, and papadam.

At the end of the excursion, we will return to your hotel in Sigiriya, arriving at 1:30 pm.
