Discover one of the ancient capitals of Sri Lanka with this excursion to Polonnaruwa. You'll also get to meet the local wildlife on a safari in Minneriya National Park.

Activity Details

At 8:30 am, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Sigiriya and head east towards Polonnaruwa, approximately an hour and fifteen minutes away.

Polonnaruwa served as the capital of Sri Lanka and was the seat of the Sinhalese kings for two centuries. The tour includes a visit to ancient ruins, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Highlights include the Quadrangle, Vatadage, Gal Pota inscription, Thuparama Gedige temple, and Gal Vihara Buddha sculpture.

Following lunch at a local restaurant, we will travel to Habarana, adjacent to Minneriya National Park, our next destination.

Prepare for the safari as we enter Minneriya National Park to explore its natural environment in search of wildlife. This is an opportunity to see wild elephants up close in their habitat.

After a 3-hour safari, we will return to your hotel in Sigiriya, arriving at 6:30 pm.
