Discover one of the ancient capitals of Sri Lanka with this excursion to Polonnaruwa. You'll also get to meet the local wildlife on a safari in Minneriya National Park.

Polonnaruwa Excursion + Safari in Minneriya National Park

At 8:30 am, pickup will be at your hotel in Sigiriya, and then we will head east towards Polonnaruwa, approximately an hour and fifteen minutes away.

Polonnaruwa was a capital of Sri Lanka and a seat of the Sinhalese kings for two centuries. The tour includes the ancient ruins, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We will visit the Quadrangle, the Vatadage, the Gal Pota inscription, the Thuparama Gedige temple, and the Gal Vihara Buddha sculpture.

After lunch at a local restaurant, we will proceed to Habarana, located near Minneriya National Park.

The safari in Minneriya National Park will allow us to explore the natural environment while searching for native wildlife. This includes the opportunity to see wild elephants up close.

After three hours of safari, we will return to your hotel in Sigiriya, arriving by 6:30 pm.
