Polonnaruwa & Pidurangala Excursion

Pickup will take place at your hotel in Sigiriya at 10 am, followed by a drive to Polonnaruwa, arriving approximately an hour and a quarter later. At the ancient kingdom founded by King Vijayabahu in 1070, participants will exchange the minibus for bicycles to explore the city comfortably.

The tour will then proceed to the outskirts of Polonnaruwa, where guests will leave the bikes for a ride on an ox-drawn cart, a traditional transport method still used in some villages. Following this, participants will board a boat for a scenic ride on Bendiwewa Lake.

The excursion continues with a visit to a local farmer’s residence, where traditional lifestyle practices will be discussed. After this visit, the group will return to the minibus and travel to the ancient monastery of Pidurangala to view the ruins amidst nature. Those in good physical condition may choose to climb Pidurangala Rock for panoramic views of Sigiriya.

The tour concludes with a return to your hotel in Sigiriya, arriving around 2 pm.
