Discover one of the ancient capitals of Sri Lanka with this excursion to Polonnaruwa. You'll also get to meet the local wildlife on a safari in Minneriya National Park.
Activity Details
At 8:30 am, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Sigiriya and head east towards Polonnaruwa, which is about an hour and fifteen minutes away.
Polonnaruwa served as one of the capitals of Sri Lanka and was the seat of the Sinhalese kings for two centuries. We'll tour its ancient ruins, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, visiting the famous Quadrangle, the unique Vatadage, the significant stone-carved inscription of Gal Pota, the small Buddhist temple of Thuparama Gedige, and the Gal Vihara Buddha sculpture.
After lunch at a restaurant, we'll proceed to Habarana, which is close to Minneriya National Park.
For the safari, we'll enter Minneriya National Park to explore the native wildlife in its natural environment, including the opportunity to see wild elephants up close.
After 3 hours of the safari, we'll return to your hotel in Sigiriya, arriving at 6:30 pm.
