- 4 - 9 hours
Explore the stunning landscapes of the Cauca department in Colombia with this hiking expedition through the Silvia moorland. Prepare to encounter breathtaking mountain views and engage in a traditional ritual!
Hike Through Silvia Moorland
Our adventure begins at 7 am at the Parque Principal, the central park of Silvia. From there, we will set off on a hike designed to unveil the captivating scenery surrounding this charming town.
When you book your hike, you have the option of embarking on a 4 or 9-hour trek, giving you the flexibility to choose your experience. Regardless of your selection, you'll have ample opportunities to admire the local flora and fauna, capturing countless photographs of the enchanting Silvia moorland.
As we traverse the trail, we’ll follow an ancestral path that historically linked the Colombian departments of Cauca and Huila. This route will offer sights of small springs, towering mountains, and various instances of frailejones, a distinctive shrub native to the region. An interesting detail: with 90 different varieties found in Colombia, this plant grows incredibly slowly, taking as long as 100 years to reach just 2 meters in height!
For those who choose the 9-hour route, a special aspect of this journey includes participation in a traditional ritual of the Misak tribe, where we will make an offering to Mother Earth - an especially profound experience.
We will conclude our hike through the Silvia moorlands back at the starting location at either 11 am or 4 pm, depending on the option you select.
