Experience Misak Culture
We will begin our journey at 8 am, gathering at the central park of Silvia. From there, we will board a minibus and travel to the surrounding areas for an engaging cultural journey that delves into the heritage of the indigenous community of Cauca.
After approximately 45 minutes of travel, we will arrive at a Misak orchard, also referred to as yatul in their native language. Here, Misak women will greet us and share insights into the organization of their crops and farming practices. For those interested, there's an opportunity to participate in the harvesting process!
Next, we will visit a Misak house, where we will gain a deeper understanding of how this pre-Hispanic community has thrived in Silvia's lands for generations. You will observe their kitchens, regarded as a sacred space, listen to stories about community traditions, and learn about the embroidery techniques they utilize in their garments.
Following our exploration of the Misak house, a lunch will be served, featuring a choice between a fish or vegetarian option, accompanied by a beverage and local fruits.
After replenishing our energy, we will reboard the minibus and proceed to the Casa Payán Interpretation Center. Here, we will uncover fascinating aspects of medicinal plants that hold significant cultural relevance to the Miskitu and Colombian traditions.
In conclusion, our immersive cultural experience will wrap up at 2:30 pm, returning us to the starting location.
