Learn about the customs and lifestyle of the Misak people, a pre-Hispanic population in the south of Colombia, on this tour from Silvia.

Tour of Misak Culture

At 8 am, we'll meet at the main park of Silvia. We'll board a minibus and head to the outskirts of the town for a cultural tour focusing on the ancient customs of the indigenous people of the Colombian department of Cauca.

After a 45-minute drive, we'll arrive at a Misak orchard or yatul. Misak women will explain how the crops and planting processes are organized. Participants can also engage in the harvest if desired.

Next, we'll visit the Misak house to observe how these pre-Hispanic people have lived in Silvia for centuries. This includes viewing the kitchens, a space considered sacred, learning about their traditions, and embroidery techniques used for clothing.

Following the visit to the Misak house, we'll enjoy a lunch with either a fish or vegetarian dish of your choice, along with a drink and local fruit.

After lunch, we'll return to the minibus for a visit to the Casa Payán Interpretation Center. There, we'll learn about the medicinal plants essential to Miskitu and Colombian culture.

We will conclude the tour at 2:30 pm, returning to the starting point.
