Learn about the customs and lifestyle of the Misak people, a pre-Hispanic population in the south of Colombia, on this tour from Silvia.

Tour of Misak Culture

At 8 am, we'll meet at the main park of Silvia and board a minibus to begin a cultural tour. After a 45-minute drive, we'll arrive at a Misak orchard or yatul. Misak women will welcome us and explain the organization of crops and planting processes. Participants can engage in harvesting if desired.

Next, we'll visit a Misak house to learn about the lifestyle of these pre-Hispanic people in Silvia. We'll explore kitchens, considered sacred, learn about traditions, and observe the embroidery techniques used in their clothing.

After touring the Misak house, we'll have a lunch with either a fish or vegetarian dish, accompanied by a drink and local fruit.

Post-lunch, we will return to the minibus to visit the Casa Payán Interpretation Center. Here, we will explore the medicinal plants significant to Miskitu and Colombian culture.

We will conclude the tour at 2:30 pm at the starting point.
