Meseta de Bombón Tour
Pickup occurs at 9 am at your accommodation. This tour explores the Meseta de Bombón, located east of the Andes and home to colonial villages and protected areas like the Junín National Reserve, which spans 53,000 hectares. A stop will be made in the colonial village of Vicco to visit its 17th-century church.
In the reserve, you'll visit Lake Junín, known for its biodiversity, including 36 species of birds. Bird species found here include flamingos, Puna ibis, Andean geese, and endemic grebes at risk of extinction. The visit includes the village of San Pedro de Pari to see one of the oldest churches in South America.
Next, the tour proceeds through San Juan de Ondores and stops in Junín. Here, you will see the Museum of Natural History, the main square, church of San Ignacio de Loyola, train station, and various chapels. You will have free time for lunch.
Post-lunch, the tour visits the historical sanctuary of Chacamarca, which is significant in Peruvian history. Then, it continues to the village of Huayre, known as the capital of maca. After visiting its main square, you'll return to Cerro de Pasco, with a stop at the church of San Pedro de Ninacaca, which still has its original thatch roof.
The tour will conclude in Cerro de Pasco, with drop-off at your accommodation by 7 pm.
