With this ticket to the Castelo dos Mouros, you'll discover the Arabian fortress in Sintra surrounded by walls. It was part of the defense of Lisbon during the Islamic occupation. After Alfonso Henriques reclaimed the territory in the 12th century, a medieval village was established on its grounds. The village and castle were abandoned until the 19th century when King Ferdinand II restored them. In 1995, UNESCO declared Sintra a World Heritage Site.

Since the 1970s, archaeological excavations have uncovered significant findings related to the fortress's history.

Opening Times

The Castelo dos Mouros is open Monday to Sunday from 9 am to 6 pm. The final admission is at 5:30 pm. Please note that the schedule is subject to change.
