National Palace of Queluz + Gardens
The National Palace of Queluz, located in Sintra, is a notable Baroque-style palace commissioned by Peter III. Upon his marriage to Princess Mary, it became a royal palace. Architect Jean-Baptiste Robillion remodeled it to echo the Palace of Versailles. Historically, it was the center of the Portuguese court, hosting soirees and balls. Today, it serves as a residence for visiting foreign heads of state.
The palace gardens feature fountains and mythological sculptures, demonstrating landscape harmony and currently hosting the School of Equestrian Art. The rehabilitation project received the European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage and the Europa Nostra Award in 2018.
This ticket allows access to significant areas such as the Throne Room, Music Room, and Ambassadors Room, along with royal chambers.
